A Power Supply Revolution Driven by AI Computing Power: The 2026 Open AI Infra Summit 800V Power Supply and Distribution Forum Successfully Held

April 14, 2026
With the explosive growth of AI large models and computing centers, the power of a single rack is rapidly moving from tens of kW toward hundreds of kW and even higher levels. As the power of a single rack in intelligent computing centers advances from tens of kilowatts to hundreds of kilowatts, the underlying logic of power supply architectures is being reshaped by the torrent of computing power demand.

At the recently held Open AI Infra Summit 2026, Professor Wu Xinke, Professor at the College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, and Executive Director of the Power Management Innovation Consortium (PMIC), was officially appointed as a member of the Open AI Infra Community Advisory Committee and chaired the “800V Power Supply and Distribution Forum.”

As one of the core agenda items of the summit, “Thematic Forum 2: 800V Power Supply and Distribution Forum,” chaired by Professor Wu Xinke, became the focus of the entire event.

The lecture hall was packed to capacity, and the aisle areas were also filled with technical personnel who continued to attend and listen. The higher-than-expected crowd density directly reflects the industry’s great attention to and urgent demand for the 800V power supply and distribution path—the 800V high-voltage DC power supply architecture has crossed the period of technical uncertainty and entered an accelerated channel of industry consensus and implementation.

Leading companies and technical experts gathered on site to engage in in-depth exchanges on key topics such as the evolution of 800V HVDC architectures, bottlenecks in power supply and distribution systems, exploration of power supply solutions, PSU challenges, and power semiconductor devices.
Technical experts from companies including Baidu, Kuaishou, Vertiv, Huawei Digital Power, Schneider Electric, GDS, ByteDance, xFusion, Megmeet, Great Wall Power, and Silan shared their respective frontier practices and in-depth thinking on a series of key issues facing the large-scale implementation of 800V high-voltage DC architectures in AI data centers, such as route planning, system architecture selection, engineering challenges, coordination of DC protection strategies, link efficiency optimization, single-node power supply density bottlenecks, safety certification barriers, and support from power semiconductor devices, and proposed diverse solution approaches.
The Power Management Innovation Consortium (PMIC) has always been rooted in the frontiers of power electronics and power systems. Facing the urgent needs emerging in the evolution of 800V architectures, such as topology control, magnetic integration, thermal management, and packaging, PMIC strives to promote alignment between high-level research teams and the needs of member companies. Through joint tackling of key problems and high-frequency technical exchanges, it helps fill the gap in the industry’s original innovation capabilities, accelerates theoretical breakthroughs and technological iteration, and moves toward a short-cycle closed loop of “principle–verification–engineering.”
