PMIC News | More Than Communication: A Deep Technical Dialogue Between PMIC and Silicon Power

February 4, 2026

On January 23, at the PMIC Yuquan Laboratory, the Power Management Innovation Consortium and its member company **Silicon Power Semiconductor** held a special exchange meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, PMIC and the Silicon Power team exchanged views on the technological development paths and industry application prospects of wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN). Subsequently, Silicon Power introduced its current key areas of focus, and the PMIC team conducted technical feasibility analysis and discussion.

In the special seminar session, PMIC focused on application cases based on gallium nitride (GaN) power devices and systematically introduced their design and practice in various high-efficiency converters. Specifically, the two sides analyzed the freewheeling switch voltage oscillation and crosstalk issues in hard-switching half-bridge structures, from mechanism to solutions. Then, taking the 48V-12V Buck converter as an example, they elaborated on its design method for achieving optimal efficiency and its requirements for driving. PMIC also shared research progress on control strategies for flying-capacitor multilevel converters and discussed key issues in multilevel driving and control.

PMIC continues to explore effective communication mechanisms. In addition to organizing three large-scale technical seminars each year, PMIC also focuses on providing in-depth exchange opportunities for member units, with the aim of more directly aligning with companies’ R&D needs.

This exchange meeting is precisely an extension of PMIC’s service model: on the basis of common technology and frontier exchanges, it organizes **small-scale**, **highly focused** technical dialogues targeting companies’ actual needs. Through direct connection between research teams and corporate R&D teams, it aims to more closely combine frontier research with industrial practice, help member units address technical challenges, and effectively play the platform’s role as a knowledge hub and collaborative innovation facilitator.
